Magic Sculp

Time saved, money made!

Choosing the best product for the quickest process will end up with time saved and money made!

Magic Sculp, is an epoxy putty that is new to the restoration field. It stands apart from the other epoxy putties in that it 1.) Has a longer window time of moldability. Most epoxy putties are either quick setting, approximately five to 8 minutes, or long setting, up to an hour, which then takes an additional 12 or more hours to cure. With the longer setting epoxy putties, the properties change rapidly about ever 5 minutes. The first 5 minutes the putties are at a consistency where chips can be easily filled, after that time frame the putties have a tendency to roll out of the areas

being filled. After about 20 minutes the putties start to become stiff and small parts can be sculpted. Most of the work needs to be done within a 45-minute window time. Magic Sculp has a much longer period of time. Chips can be easily filled up to an hour after it is mixed. This gives the artist more relaxed time to work the process. No need to stop and make a new batch. If a more hurried situation were required, then working under a heat lamp or placing in a heat box would assist in speeding up the time. There is a point of when it is first mixed, if excess heat was applied, it would cause a "slumping" effect. Experience will be the best teacher of finding out the exact setting stages. 2.) It lies in place easier than the other epoxies. Other epoxy putties have a tendency to roll out of the spot as it is applied. It takes a certain technique to master the use of an epoxy putty to keep it positioned in its place while filling in minute chips or flakes. Magic Sculp adheres nicely to just about any section, (chipped part, flake or a missing part). The adhesives in it are those that are used in the aerospace industry; couldn't be stronger. With a little practice, the artist can cut several steps down to one or two; time saved, money made! 3.) It needs less sanding. If care is taken on its placement, there may be no need for sanding. This is unique to this product because the putty is not made with fibers. It smoothes out with water. For those hard to get to places, position the putty in the area with either a toothpick or a long tapered knife. Then while using a paintbrush dipped in water, smooth over the top. With the correct amount of filler, the complete process can be achieved in one step with no sanding; time saved, money made!

As working with all epoxy putties, they discolor over time. A yellowing effect will take place; it is just a matter of time and climate conditions. The artist needs to keep this in mind so that an opaque layer of paint will need to be applied to hide the filler. This is performed in the airbrushing techniques. Once fully cured the filler is resilient to just about any top coating. Just finish up with the painting stages as with any epoxy filler.
