Code of Ethics

What do you mean we do not have any standards?

The AOR’s doors are wide open, inviting all who seek information in the vast world of restoration. If the AOR were to set standards then the doors would start to close. As long as I am responsible for its direction, I will be standing guard to see that the doors stay wide-wide open.

What we do take a stand on is INTEGRITY!

Bill Witkowki, Michigan Antique Preservation Co, Wyandotte, MI., has been diligently working on this important part of the AOR’s structure: the Code of Ethics. There was an in-depth discussion on this issue at the board meeting, in Williamsburg and Mr. Witkowski is finalizing the platform on which the AOR will stand.

The guidelines are principles by which all members are encouraged to guide themselves in regards to "Business Practices." It will NOT ELIMINATE anyone due to education or experience. It is the intention of these guidelines to set standards of ethics to elevate the profession in all levels and areas. They are based on integrity of workmanship and the principals regarding the restorer to a direction of restoring an item.

Some members have received the condensed version as a wall certificate with this newsletter. The rest will follow in subsequent newsletters.
