here we come! March 21st, 22nd, & 23rd 2002 If you have attended any previous convention, then you know about the assortment of information: technical training, new supplies, and most important, the networking and friendships that are established! Wait till you see what we have in store for you at the Boston convention this spring! Plan now; you do not want to miss this one!
I t will start off with an exhibition of supplies in the afternoon on March 21st. This will give the attendees the opportunity to get settled in before the excitement begins. There will be suppliers to greet the attendees with new products in the industry. Wood restorers will be astounded with the new products that will make their work easier. Porcelain and Glass restorers will also be amazed at so many new products on the market. There will be an assortment of pigment paints, epoxies, specialty adhesives, mold making supplies, gilding supplies, wood working supplies, air cleaning systems and much, much more. From the hotel each attendee will be shuttled to the luxurious Oakley Country Club. It will be a gathering with a delightful combination dinner/meeting. Joe Sabatino, People in the Woods, Portsmouth, RI, will be our Keynote speaker. He will share his Seven Secrets of Success! Joe has brought his business from an ordinary refinishing shop to a multi-million-dollar income within several years. Find out how you can do the same! The evening will wind up with a relaxed social; bring your portfolios and business cards to be shared. Then it is back to the hotel for a good nights rest! The next morning it will be off to the trade show! The AOR, Association of Restorers has partnered with R&R, Restoration & Renovation. Their trade shows pull in over 6,000 attendees with over 300 exhibitors! A huge event! The AOR is providing a portion of their program on the talents and knowledge for interior restoring. (Object art i.e. wood, porcelain, glass etc.) Bring a strong shopping bag to carry all your "free" literature and samples. Don't plan on being able to see the whole thing; it is impossible! You will be receiving information directly from R&R in the near future; look over what they have to offer. You will be receiving complimentary passes through the AOR's convention. Attendees will be provided with a bag lunch, so you will be able to make effective use of your time. So much to see ! So much to learn! Then it is back to the hotel. We have some special choices of entertainment for the night. That information will follow soon. Keep in mind that the attendee will need his or her rest, so they can be up and ready to depart at 9:00 AM for the tours of the Mansions in Newport RI. I am sure you all have seen documentaries on these astounding homes! Now you will have the opportunity of seeing them in person. The ones selected are The Elms, (The home of millionaire Edward Berwind and his French-style chateau, a house that represented the height of gracious living and entertaining at the turn of the century), The Breakers, (Explore the grand 70 room Italian Renaissance-style villa built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II, President and Chairman of the New York Central Railroad), and we will finish up with the Chateau-Sur-Mer, the finest of Newport's palatial summer mansion, where the Gilded Age began. For detailed information on what you can expect to see, visit www.NewportMansions.org. Along our journey we will have a tasteful lunch where we can socialize among ourselves while sharing our new found adventures. Again, don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to enjoy a vacation that will combine learning and exploration! Ask yourself, "What will it take to attend this convention?"
